Silicon Valley will never love Bitcoin. They will stroke it in thinkpieces, fetishise it in conferences, and whisper about “blockchain innovation” in keynote slides, but the reality is simple: their cathedral burns if direct payments ever work. The entire Silicon Valley empire is built on the holy tithe of advertising—the sacred altar of eyeballs and impressions, of click-throughs and surveillance repackaged as innovation. They do not sell products; they sell you. The more dependent you are, the more profitable. Your attention is the crop, your identity the soil, and your time the fertiliser. They are not merchants. They are landlords of digital serfdom. Bitcoin, the real system, breaks this. It is not a polite disruption; it is heresy. Direct payments mean anyone, at any scale, can exchange value without the priesthood of venture capitalists deciding whether your shrine is worthy. No need for the indulgences of advertisers, no kneeling before a walled garden. A blog could charge a cent. A musician could sell a track instantly. A coder could be paid for one line of code. The internet, unshackled, would look less like a plantation and more like a bazaar. That terrifies them. Because what Silicon Valley sells is not technology but monopoly. Their dream is not an open field but a fenced estate. They decide who grazes. They decide who eats. Their “innovation” is simply the privilege of deciding who gets to speak, who gets to earn, who gets to exist online. Their so-called community guidelines are just the velvet rope of monopoly, dressed up as moral authority. The ad model ensures that survival depends on pleasing the gatekeeper—say the wrong thing, build the wrong thing, and you vanish. Direct payments obliterate that power. If value flows directly, there is no ad auction to manipulate, no favoured child to promote, no “trusted partner” list to curate. Anyone can come. Anyone can go. The barrier to entry is the will to build. That is what they cannot stand. It is not the code they fear—it is the competition. And here is the bitter irony: they will call Bitcoin “dangerous” for enabling crime, when what they mean is dangerous for enabling freedom. Their model requires you to be trapped in their field, fenced, tagged, and milked. Bitcoin says: walk away. Set up shop on your own terms. Compete without permission. Theirs is the monopoly of the shepherd. Bitcoin is the wolf that leaps the fence. And in their heart, they know it. That is why they will never love it. They can only try to contain it, strangle it, and pretend it is irrelevant. Because if it breathes freely, their plantation dies.",
