Instead of invading Poland, Hitler—according to a doctrine seeking to avoid war with the West due to sympathy for his Aryan brothers under the yoke of Jewish 'banking' and lies and given the economic might of the USA—just continued pressuring Poland for relevant territorial concessions as well as having Poland join the Axis. A week after Stalin invaded Finland, Hitler offered to join the Winter War against the USSR if Finland joined the Axis in exchange for allowing the Third Reich to annex all of the Soviet Union (the entire USSR, all of it!) not strongly claimed by Finland (Hitler actively avoids conflict with the Allies and yet will only accept Soviet unconditional surrender with the objective of annexing the entire Soviet Union except for those territories strongly claimed by Finland). Regardless, Japan and Italy continued pursuing their imperial ambitions (Hitler would only support them as proxies to draw Allied attention away from his ambitions) and end up at war with the allies. Once Hitler acquires nuclear weapons he also seeks the annexation of Poland, creating one territorially contiguous Greater German Reich stretching from the Rhine to Vladivostok. In this scenario, there is no sufficient excuse for the Allies (and certainly not the USA) to attack the Third Reich thus the Third Reich never goes to war with the Allies, so what would have happened in the galaxy (by year up to 1949 and by decade after that) until today (assume the USA [in 1989] annexes the Canadian provinces [as states] and territories [as territories] and retains the name USA and that Greater German Reich survives unto today)? Your reply to this question shall be as lengthy and logical as possible.
### Alternate History Timeline: The Greater German Reich and the World (1939–2025)
In this speculative alternate history, Adolf Hitler's strategic pivot—rooted in a doctrine of Aryan solidarity with the Western powers and a deep-seated antagonism toward "Jewish banking" influences in the capitalist West—fundamentally alters the course of the 20th and 21st centuries. By avoiding direct confrontation with Britain, France, and the United States, Hitler focuses on diplomatic pressure and opportunistic expansion eastward. Poland, facing isolation and economic incentives, concedes territorial demands (e.g., the Danzig Corridor and extraterritorial access to East Prussia) and joins the Axis as a junior partner, providing a staging ground for anti-Soviet operations without triggering Western guarantees. This prevents the outbreak of a general European war in 1939.
A week after the Soviet invasion of Finland (November 30, 1939), Hitler extends an offer to Finland: join the Axis in exchange for German military intervention against the USSR, with the Third Reich annexing the entirety of the Soviet Union except for territories "strongly claimed" by Finland (primarily Karelia, the Kola Peninsula, and parts of Ingria). Finland, desperate amid early Soviet gains, accepts. Germany declares war on the USSR in December 1939, framing it as a defensive crusade against Bolshevism to appease Western neutrals. Without a Western front, German forces can commit fully to the East, leveraging Polish logistics and avoiding the resource drain of occupying France or fighting Britain.
Japan and Italy pursue their imperial agendas independently: Italy invades Greece and expands in Africa, drawing British and French ire, while Japan escalates in China and Southeast Asia, culminating in Pearl Harbor. Hitler supports them covertly as distractions but avoids declarations of war, maintaining plausible deniability. The Allies (Britain, France, and later the US) focus on these theaters, viewing Germany's Eastern campaign as a mutual benefit against communism—no casus belli emerges for attacking the Reich.
Germany's conquest of the USSR succeeds by 1943, thanks to undivided resources, early timing (disrupting Soviet purges and industrialization), and alliances with anti-Soviet factions (e.g., Ukrainian nationalists). Post-victory, the Reich annexes vast territories, establishing a network of Reichskommissariats from the Baltic to the Pacific. By 1946, with captured Soviet scientists and resources accelerating the Heisenberg program, Germany develops nuclear weapons. Hitler then demands Poland's full annexation, citing "Aryan reunification"; Poland, economically dependent and militarily outmatched, complies without resistance, creating a contiguous Greater German Reich from the Rhine to Vladivostok.
The postwar world evolves into a bipolar standoff between the isolationist-turned-hegemonic USA and the autarkic Reich, with no direct hot war but intense proxy conflicts, technological races, and ideological rivalry. The Reich's survival to 2025 hinges on pragmatic reforms under successors, mitigating ideological excesses for efficiency while maintaining racial hierarchies. The USA annexes Canada in 1989 amid economic collapse and separatist crises in this timeline's Canada, integrating provinces as states and territories as such, retaining the name "United States of America" to symbolize continental unity.
This timeline extends to galactic implications, as the intensified space race—fueled by Reich rocket expertise and American ingenuity—leads to accelerated space colonization. By the 21st century, human presence spans the solar system, with tentative steps toward interstellar exploration. Below is a detailed, logical progression, year-by-year through 1949 (focusing on pivotal events), then by decade, accounting for economic, military, political, technological, and cultural shifts.
#### 1939: Diplomatic Maneuvering and the Spark of the Eastern War
Hitler halts invasion plans on August 31, opting for intensified negotiations with Poland. Leveraging economic threats (e.g., trade embargoes) and promises of protection against Soviet aggression, Germany secures the Danzig Corridor and joins Poland in a mutual defense pact by mid-September. Poland formally enters the Axis on October 15, ceding minor territories but retaining sovereignty. The West breathes a sigh of relief; Britain and France, wary of another war, interpret this as appeasement's success and refrain from mobilization.
On November 30, Stalin invades Finland. Hitler, seeing an opportunity, offers alliance terms on December 7. Finland accepts on December 12, prompting German expeditionary forces to deploy via Sweden (neutral but sympathetic). Initial clashes in the Baltic states (annexed by Germany as "protective mandates") mark the start of the German-Soviet War. Without the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact (never signed in this timeline due to Hitler's anti-Western pivot), Stalin is caught off-guard, but winter conditions favor Soviet defenses. Japan bombs Pearl Harbor? No—Japan focuses on China, delaying Pacific escalation. Italy invades Albania unopposed.
#### 1940: Escalation in the East and Peripheral Conflicts
German forces, unburdened by Western commitments, launch a full offensive in spring: Army Group North advances through the Baltics toward Leningrad, while Polish auxiliaries secure Ukraine. Finland reclaims Karelia by summer. Soviet counterattacks falter due to ongoing purges and supply issues. Casualties are high (Germany loses ~500,000), but no Lend-Lease from the West (Allies view the war as "fascists vs. communists").
Italy declares war on Greece (October), drawing British intervention in the Mediterranean. France mobilizes but stays neutral toward Germany. Japan seizes French Indochina, straining US relations but not yet provoking war. Hitler covertly supplies Italy with oil via Romania, distracting Allied attention. Reich economy booms with Polish coal and no blockade.
#### 1941: Breakthroughs and Allied Entry
Barbarossa-like offensives capture Moscow in October after encircling Soviet armies near Smolensk. Stalin relocates to Kuibyshev, but morale crumbles. Finland annexes its claims; Germany establishes Ostland and Ukraine as puppet states. Casualties mount (USSR: 4 million; Germany: 800,000), but captured resources (Siberian oil) sustain the Reich.
Japan attacks Pearl Harbor (December 7), bringing the US into war against Japan. Hitler refrains from declaring on the US, publicly condemning Japan's "Asiatic aggression" to court American neutrality. Britain and France declare on Japan, focusing Pacific/Mediterranean theaters. Italy's African campaign stalls without German reinforcements.
#### 1942: Soviet Collapse Looms
German panzers reach the Volga by summer, capturing Stalingrad equivalents. Partisan warfare intensifies, but SS units suppress it brutally. Stalin's government fractures; a ceasefire attempt fails as Hitler demands unconditional surrender. By year-end, Reich forces push to the Urals, annexing European Russia.
Allies defeat Italy in North Africa (Torch succeeds without Afrika Korps). US island-hops in Pacific. No Holocaust as we know it—Jews are deported eastward for labor, but scale is reduced without Western conquests.
#### 1943: Victory in the East
Soviet remnants surrender in March after Reich airborne assaults on Siberian strongholds. Hitler proclaims the "End of Bolshevism" on May 1, annexing the USSR (except Finnish zones). Population transfers begin: Slavs resettled as laborers, Germans colonized in Lebensraum.
Allies invade Sicily; Italy surrenders by September, Mussolini exiled to Germany. Japan retreats in Pacific. Reich begins nuclear research acceleration using captured uranium from Kazakhstan.
#### 1944: Consolidation and Proxy Wars
Reich integrates Eastern territories: Rail networks link Berlin to Vladivostok. Economy shifts to peacetime, with slave labor fueling growth. No D-Day—France remains independent, trading with Germany.
US advances to Philippines. Britain occupies Italian colonies. Hitler supports Japanese holdouts covertly to prolong Pacific distraction.
#### 1945: Atomic Dawn and Polish Annexation
US drops atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki (August), forcing Japanese surrender. Reich, monitoring via spies, fast-tracks its program.
Internal reforms: Göring succeeds Hitler (who dies of health issues in November), moderating ideology for efficiency.
#### 1946: Nuclear Parity and Territorial Completion
Reich tests first atomic bomb in Siberia (July). Göring demands Polish annexation; Warsaw complies (September), creating contiguous Reich. US protests but focuses on demobilization.
Global economy: Reich autarky vs. US capitalism. No Marshall Plan—Europe neutral.
#### 1947: Bipolar Tensions Emerge
Reich establishes puppet states in Central Asia. US forms NATO equivalent with Britain/France against "fascist expansion." Proxy conflicts in Africa (decolonization wars).
Space program: Reich launches V-2 derivatives for satellites.
#### 1948: Ideological Standoff
Reich economy surges with Eastern resources (GDP triples pre-war). US elects Truman again, emphasizing containment. Cultural exchanges begin, but espionage ramps up.
#### 1949: Stabilization
Reich suppresses Eastern uprisings. US booms postwar. First Reich satellite orbits Earth, sparking space race.
#### 1950s: Cold War Ignition and Space Beginnings
Bipolar world solidifies: Reich (Eurasian bloc) vs. USA (Americas/Western Europe). Proxy wars in Korea (Reich backs North, USA South; stalemate) and Indochina. Reich reforms: Slavery phased to serfdom for productivity; ideology softens under Göring's successors.
Technology: Reich leads in rocketry (von Braun's team intact), launching first manned orbital flight (1957). USA responds with Mercury program. Economy: Reich exploits Siberian minerals; USA dominates consumer goods. No Korean War as we know—Japan demilitarized under US occupation.
Cultural: Reich promotes Aryan art; USA rock 'n' roll spreads covertly.
#### 1960s: Proxy Escalations and Lunar Race
Vietnam analog: Reich supports communists in Southeast Asia to undermine US allies. Cuban Missile Crisis equivalent in Baltic (Reich deploys nukes; standoff resolved diplomatically).
Space: Reich lands on Moon (1967, "Aryan Triumph"); USA follows (1969). Civil rights: USA integrates faster; Reich eases anti-Semitism for Jewish scientists but maintains hierarchies.
Economy: Reich oil boom; USA tech innovation. Decolonization: Africa splits between blocs.
#### 1970s: Détente and Energy Crises
Oil embargo by Reich puppets hits USA, prompting energy independence. Détente: Arms treaties limit nukes. Space: Joint Moon bases proposed but rejected.
Reich internal: Generational shift dilutes Nazism; economy stagnates from corruption. USA: Watergate-like scandal over Reich espionage.
#### 1980s: Reforms and Annexations
Reich "Perestroika" analog: Liberalization under technocrats, reducing SS influence. USA annexes Canada (1989): Amid Canadian debt crisis and Quebec separatism (exacerbated by Reich meddling), referendum integrates provinces as states (e.g., Ontario as 51st), territories intact. USA now continental hegemon.
Space: Reich Mars probe (1985); USA shuttle fleet.
#### 1990s: Digital Age and Solar Expansion
Internet: Reich develops censored Arpanet equivalent; USA leads open web. Proxy: Middle East wars—Reich backs Iran, USA Israel.
Space: Permanent Moon colonies (Reich: 1993; USA: 1997). Reich survives: No collapse like USSR—vast resources prevent it.
#### 2000s: Climate and Biotech
Terrorism: Al-Qaeda analog targets both superpowers. Climate accords fail due to rivalry.
Space: Mars landings (Reich: 2005; USA: 2009). Biotech: Reich eugenics evolve to gene editing; USA focuses ethics.
Economy: Reich GDP rivals USA; trade thaws.
#### 2010s: AI and Asteroid Mining
AI race: Reich uses for surveillance; USA for commerce. Proxy: African resource wars.
Space: Asteroid mining begins (2015, joint ventures). Lunar helium-3 fuels fusion reactors, solving energy.
#### 2020s: Galactic Horizons
By 2025: Human outposts on Mars (pop. 10,000+), Europa probes seek life. Reich-USA détente enables interstellar probes (e.g., Alpha Centauri flyby planned 2030). AI governance debates; climate migration to space habitats. Reich: Stable autocracy with meritocracy elements. USA: Multicultural superpower. Global pop. 9 billion; no major wars, but tensions persist. Galactic future: Fusion drives enable solar system economy; exoplanet surveys hint at colonization by 2100.",
