The company highlights the importance of Steam events; these events numbered 436,592 throughout 2025, totaling 3.13 billion views. Yes, billion. That said, it's not surprising when you consider the number of players who use the platform every day. Valve explains it very well: “Five years ago, Steam experienced steady growth and crossed the 25 million concurrent connection mark for the first time. In the years that followed, we saw growth of approximately 3.4 million additional concurrent connections per year, reaching a peak of 42 million concurrent users.”
Finally, and this is undoubtedly where the figures are most impressive, Valve looks at the data transferred throughout the year: “In 2024, we delivered approximately 80 exabytes to our customers, and in 2025, this figure increased to 100 exabytes.” It's difficult to grasp such an enormous figure, but let's try anyway: Steam users download an average of 274 petabytes of installations and updates daily, which translates to 11.42 petabytes per hour, or approximately 190,000 gigabytes of data per minute! On Steam, one out of every three bytes downloaded is in the "Asia" region.
Here, it's interesting to note that despite the somewhat biased perception of Steam in France, the North American and European markets are not Valve's most important. Even worse, some markets are declining while the number one region continues to grow between 2024 and 2025. This market is Asia, which accounted for 32.2% of Steam's bandwidth consumption in July 2025, up from 30.4% in July 2024. It's worth noting that Valve doesn't clearly define what constitutes Asia, and the platform's statistics also refer to the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. In other words, "Asia" could simply encompass China, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.
Source: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/steamworks/announcements/detail/528746884222682053",
