"map_content": "The funny thing was my project aim had similarity to social networking at a mechanical level before anybody had done it. But I missed the most important aspect, which was to raise the concept up into the UX. It was the UX of social networking that caught fire, as it exposes and interacts with the users' ego. It makes the user conscious of having an online public self , that might be beloved and popular or totally ignored, for everyone one to see which. This is ego heroin to young people. My concept of UX was overly private and holistic, more interested in what you wanted to see and do ( as if that mattered lol)\n\nIt figures I would miss the main thing since I was a software egghead in those days . we wrote code - The code might tell users stuff, give them info, let them know how to do stuff. There was no wide school of thought that considered \"how does the software make users feel\", let alone embracing the concept of manipulating them with it, now widely embraced as 'gamification'",
