  "map_content": "I think maybe that I struck gold!!!  Most of that shiny pile is Pyrite I think but there were also some flecks of GOLD!!!   Now I want to go back with a pan!!  It was a pretty easily accessible spot that\u2019s just up river from our usual river play spot.  \r\nI just hope that the old timers who were working it just a little down stream don\u2019t have an active claim.  \r\nIn a day where the price of gold is only going up, it\u2019s important to remember that gold isn\u2019t all that rare.  Sure most of the easy stuff has been scooped up but there is still LOTS of it settled in the sand of our streams.   \r\nYesterday, I wasn\u2019t even planning on trying to assess the stream.   I was looking for a seam of quartz I could chip away at\u2026. Looking for nuggets and not flecks.  \r\nBut really, if there\u2019s enough flecks in there to make panning worth my time then I can\u2019t think of a much better way to spend my time this spring and summer!!  \r\nAny one else on here into prospecting for gold?",

  "map_content": "What state is that? I'm in the southern Va mtns and plan to go panning for placer gold(etc.) this year. I blame \"intro to minerology\" in part for this,  but my wife and I have been into rocks for decades(more her really. I'm\r\nthe tech - what do you call hackers when they're older than Moses?). We've got spent iron mines and deposits, and old quartz all over the place. I've been told there's no gold around here but I've found other minerals so I say there's hope. The big floods(Helene etc.) we've had in recent years really stirred the pot at the river and creeks up the gorge.",

  "map_content": "I\u2019m on Vancouver Island.  There are a handful of old working mines nearby that I\u2019m curious to check out (don\u2019t have any off-road gear tho).   And that\u2019s a whole other kind of prospecting too.  Buuuut\u2026  if I found a couple of flecks in the river while hardly trying, I\u2019m feeling good about prospects here.",
