  "map_content": "In a covert daytime operation on my birthday last week, I snuck into Bowen Park before they took away all of the remnants from the old course, and I find my Prize!!\r\nI\u2019ve been playing this course for close to ten years now and in all those drives I have managed one ace.  Hole 17.  \r\nI\u2019ve come close a few other times.  Twice on hole 8\u2026. I\u2019ve gotten several tonal aces\u2026 but they don\u2019t count \r\nOne brilliant ace on hole 17.   So I went out to get the placard before they disposed of it.  Others have taken the signs from other holes but nobody got 17 yet.  I was happy to see I wasn\u2019t the only one with this idea and so pleased that I could get the only one I really wanted. \r\nI contemplated hole 7 which also was still there. Sure most of the easy stuff has been scooped up but there is still LOTS of it settled in the sand of our streams.   \r\nYesterday, I wasn\u2019t even planning on trying to assess the stream.   I was looking for a seam of quartz I could chip away at\u2026. Looking for nuggets and not flecks.  \r\nBut really, if there\u2019s enough flecks in there to make panning worth my time then I can\u2019t think of a much better way to spend my time this spring and summer!!  \r\nAny one else on here into prospecting for gold?",

We go to this park/beach regularly but they did a pile of renovations on the parking and facilities area\u2026. And it looks like they did some work in the faerie forest too. \r\nFor many years this place has been populated with doors on the trees.  Many little additions and changes over the years by anonymous participants. \r\nYesterday we walked down that way and one of the large OG doors has been removed.  The whole tree was downed (prolly for safety) but they\u2019ve replaced it with this prefab fairy home. \r\n\ud83e\udd26\u200d\u2640\ufe0f. Corporate to the max.   A lot of the other doors are still in the woods tho. Phew.  And some fantastic new ones too.   I wish we could post more than one image per post.",

  "map_content": "I\u2019m heading out this afternoon for my last game on the old Frolf Course.  The city of Nanaimo is home to a world renowned Disk Golf Course in Bowen Park.  An incredible nature asset right in the middle of town.  \r\nThis park has the Millstone River running through it which is its own complete reason for visiting the park:  \r\nIn the summer there is crayfish hunting and shore exploration  with the river being not much more than a trickle.  \r\nIn the winter it\u2019s a raging torrent all the way to the Ocean just down the way.  It\u2019s cascading through the tumbling rapids and some impressive falls, at which when standing there, you lose the impression completely that you\u2019re in the middle of a modern city.  \r\nAnd when the snow sticks (not this year unfortunately \ud83d\ude14) it\u2019s THE tobogganing hotspot for the whole city. \r\nI\u2019ve raised my kids with this park as an important backdrop. \r\nAnd with my middle son, almost 18 now, I\u2019ve grown him up playing Frolf with me!!  \r\nIt\u2019s really Lovely to be in a place where I can  have this recreational activity accessible year round.   The obstacles on the course are different seasonally.  I\u2019ve got a clear cool day today and it\u2019s low breeze rn so I\u2019m looking at a stellar last round \ud83e\udd1e\ud83e\udd1e\ud83e\udd1e\r\nWhat I will miss most about this course is the tee off on whole 7. It\u2019s the longest hole on the course and it starts at the top of the valley.   In the winter the trees in the way are leafless \r\nWill I finally ace this one today?  I know I can throw the distance\u2026 it\u2019s whether I hit it all perfect. \r\nThe new course is going to be very different.  And I\u2019m excited to get good at that one.  I\u2019ll pine for that hole 7 drive though. \r\nBut heck I can always just come here and huck disks from that spot.  Heck I can even bring my own basket.",

  "map_content": "This immense fissure is known locally as \u201cTHE ABYSS\u201d and it\u2019s one of our favorite places to go for a release walk.   The trailhead is a short drive from home and the trek up to where the fissure lay is a rapid ascent through beautiful meadow/arbutus grove terrain.   \r\nOn the way there are several petroglyphs marked into the hard rock and I wonder just how much more we would uncover if we stripped the moss.  \r\nDrawings thousands of years old.  \r\nThe Abyss itself is a bit of an enigma.  The theoretical consensus is that it was a seismic event that cracked this sucker.  I think it might be something a little different.    I think the crack came as a result of this behemoth landing where it did after being ejected from one of the cascade range volcanoes on the other side of the strait.   \r\nI imagine the last big cataclysm event had huge boulders being thrown around all over the place by volcanoes \r\n\r\nWe have no idea just what kind of power our solar system can exhibit when ouch comes to shove.  I\u2019ve always had this deep feeling that I was going to be alive for the next one.  \r\nThis big crack, which apparently we haven\u2019t explored the bottom of, though I\u2019m sure it\u2019s filled with the corpses of many a beast who\u2019ve stumbled in.  \r\nIt\u2019s a joy to head up here with my boys.   Gets me thinking about geology and our future and damn arbutus trees are a special breed.   My favorite and the only grow in this part of the world.  \r\n\r\nWhat a treat!!",

All the old hay from last year\u2019s flower bonanza!!!  We grow a delectable garden.  So may beautiful flowers. \r\nSeveral different species of poppies are growing too of many different sizes.  I\u2019ve gone harvesting the latex before for my wonderful little \u201cSomaPuffs\u201d (tm\ud83d\ude02) but not this last year.  \r\nBut I\u2019ve never seen anything quite like this gorgeous little scene.
